Who We Are…

Christ of First Importance Ministries (COFIM) was founded by brother and sister Thomas Hodzi and Ruth Granlund in 2015. Their hearts’ desire was for Christ to be of first importance in two main areas: in local churches and their leadership as well as in the lives of needy children. Thomas currently serves as one of the pastors at Covenanters Christian Church in Harare, Zimbabwe and serves as the in-country Director of COFIM.

Ruth is a certified chartered accountant and biblical counselor with ACBC who serves regularly at her local church. She also serves as treasurer on the board of COFIM. Also on the board are pastors Erik Chou and Bob Childress. On the ground are a dedicated staff of believers who seek to see the gospel progress through your prayers and the provision of our Lord. Currently all the work is in the Southern African country of Zimbabwe.

COFIM’s mission has two goals that everything hinges upon: Church Strengthening (which includes church planting and pastoral training) and Orphan Ministry. As we achieve these goals, COFIM upholds or emphasizes two pillars of truth. The first is the Gospel of Jesus Christ as the only hope of salvation to the world. The second is that the Church is the body of Christ through which Christ has chosen to do His work.
